About the Role
We are an established Czech gaming studio looking for a Project Cost Controller / Budget Specialist to help us regularly monitor the financial health of our development projects. We need someone who can quickly and accurately evaluate the financial status of individual projects and recommend steps to increase efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
1) Weekly Financial Reporting
- Track project-specific costs against the budget.
- Monitor burn rate and budget variances.
- Evaluate resource utilization and non-productive hours.
- Prepare clear weekly reports for the company management.
2) Forecasting & Predictions
- Create short-term (monthly) and medium-term (3–6 months) cost and revenue forecasts.
- Highlight financial risks and potential budget overruns.
- Propose adjustments to staffing and budgets.
3) Budget Control & Scope Changes
- Compare plan vs. actual performance.
- Identify inefficient expenses.
- Track changes in project scope and their financial impact.
4) Management Support
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses (margin analysis, cost-per-feature, cost of delay).
- Prepare materials for board meetings and strategic decisions.
- Provide recommendations to boost project profitability.
Who We Are Looking For
- A numbers enthusiast with a background/education in controlling, finance, or project management (also suitable for students).
- Experience with budgeting and financial/economic analysis.
- Advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets (familiarity with BI tools is a plus).
- Advantages: Experience in gamedev / IT / outsourcing, and working with time-tracking data.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, focusing on the root of the problem.
