Networks & Services International (NWI) develops, plans, builds, and operates the international DWDM Network of Deutsche Telekom (DTAG), providing connectivity services for Wholesale, B2B market and DT Group internally. DTAG international optical network is spanning European footprint from London to Turkey, with presence in North America as well.
We work in cross-functional teams out of several physical locations worldwide and cover a wide spectrum of telecommunication topics. Our DWDM development team drives strategic evolution topics working in close contact with engineering, operation, planning teams for technical activities and DTAG Wholesale unit for product development and strategic customer solutions.
What you will do
- You are responsible for development of architecture concepts, design of holistic target pictures (strategic planning for network extensions, feature set, product line, software release and supporting systems development).
- You identify innovations in DWDM technology fields and being actively involved with implementation within the Group and in the industry.
- You are proposing and defining policies and other documents for the NWI Int’l Transport area and agreeing these with internal departments.
- You are steering the architecture and design activities, including those of major strategic and international projects and programs.
- Your responsibility covers optimization and harmonization of architecture and transport solution design, and optimization of existing organizational architecture.
- You advise NWI and Sales management on technological, architectural topics and issues of system development and integration.
- You are actively practicing knowledge management and transfer of knowledge withing NWI teams.
Required knowledge and skills
You have completed a university degree in communications technology, computer science or electrical engineering, or have a comparable qualification in related fields, with professional work experience in telecommunications networks.
- Detailed knowledge and min 5 years’ experience of Transport network, Optical networks, DWDM technology
- Know-how of SDN, NFV, Virtualization in general, Cloud-Technology.
- Knowledge of automation and network orchestration, extensive experience driving digitalization initiatives within the field of optical networks
- Good understanding of IP networks (Routing und Switching) in L2/L3 architectures, protocols, and know dependencies and technologies of telecommunication-like voice, signaling, data streams
- Ability to develop and communicate long-term technology strategies that align business objectives with emerging network technologies.
- Your senior expertise is enabling you to take full responsibility for the implementation of architectural concepts in platform, product and services development
- You can provide technical advice, consultancy, recommendations and drive the decision process in the relevant functional area for technical and managerial audience
- Experience with complex project management
- Open-minded, target-oriented, can work independently and need only minor supervision
- Have a pragmatic way to solve problems and can deal with time pressure sporadically
- You are flexible on new tasks and topics, like working in a team and helping your colleagues with your expertise and ideas.
- You have strong Intercultural competence and effective communication skills
- You are interested in work improvements, automation, and bring in your ideas to create an efficient and easy work environment.
- Your English is excellent in reading, writing and conversation (CEFR level minimum B2), and having basic German language skills makes you ideal candidate.
